Wyvern Gliding Club

Upavon Airfield, Pewsey, Wiltshire, SN9 6BE
 The Club  Gliding  Location
Wyvern is the largest gliding club within the Army Gliding Association and provides gliding as a recognised sport and approved Adventurous Training activity to all Servicemen, retired servicemen and MoD civilians and by exception other civilians can be invited to join.  It will also provide air experience flights for all those interested in finding out about the thrill of gliding.  All instruction is carried out by BGA (British Gliding Association) Instructors.
With its comprehensive and modern fleet of both two seat gliders for training and single seat for solo flying, the enthusiastic serviceman can quickly progress from novice to solo, gain experience and BGA qualifications and soon find themselves competing cross country flight for the Army.
Wyvern has a tremendous all grass airfield on the edge of Salisbury Plain and is very active flying most weekends throughout the year, Wednesday afternoons and allocated weeks.  Between March to October we also run seven week long 'Ab Initio' courses.  These are predominantly aimed and open to Servicemen but surplus capacity is potentially available to everyone;  irrespective of previous experience they are a fantastic start to your gliding career , weather permitting of course!
